MAVRX Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Launch of Nonprofit Pitch Initiative
Sports Housing Leader Honors Homeless Veterans with Community Event, Athlete Appearances, and $10,000 Donation
Phoenix, Arizona (October 20, 2023) – During the Arizona Diamondbacks’ long-awaited NLCS playoff game, Arizona’s professional baseball and football community came together with Pitch Initiative to give back to those who’ve served. Nearly 100 residents of MANA House—a peer-support organization for homeless and formerly homeless veterans—were honored during The Pitch 10 for 10, a commemorative event powered by MAVRX Sports Housing.
The celebration marked the 10th anniversary of MAVRX, a nationally recognized leader in sports housing and relocation, and served as the official launch of its new 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Pitch Initiative. The event was designed to celebrate a decade of service while deepening MAVRX’s commitment to giving back.
To kick off the event, professional athletes and coaches—including Guardians pitcher Elvis Jerez, Arizona Rattlers legends Anttaj Hawthorne and Nick Davila, and more than 20 coaches, staff, and players from the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Guardians—hosted a heartfelt meet-and-greet with MANA House residents. The evening continued with games and activities organized by Pitch and MAVRX staff, fostering meaningful connections among attendees.
Guests enjoyed a thoughtfully prepared catered dinner courtesy of M Culinary Concepts, creating a warm, communal atmosphere. The event also featured a special appearance by Luke Air Force Base, whose firetruck experience—led by 2023 Hall of Fame Inductee Brandon Cunningham—added a fun and memorable element for veterans in attendance.
The evening concluded with Pitch Initiative presenting a $10,000 donation to MANA House to support their ongoing efforts, alongside the distribution of handcrafted toiletry kits from MAVRX to ensure residents’ basic needs were met.
